Clare Kirkman

For 23 years prior to moving to Spain, I worked in the UK Health and Social Care sector. In the early years my role was hands on and in latter years - management. Now I´m dedicated to the profession by way of specialist writing, training and management consultancy. I have always loved to help people.

In May this year, following a pretty serious riding accident, I found myself needing to be cared for – and that was a brand new experience for me.

Completion of local authority tender applications & Assistance in meeting industry standards (eg CSCI compliance)

Completion of local authority tender applications

Completing an application form to provide services to your local authority can be time consuming and confusing, yet is an unavoidable task.

Some of the problems you will face when completing applications are that:

  • All local authorities have their values – but what if they are not shared by you?
  • Some authorities will use terminology alien to you.
  • Others will have expectations beyond your comprehension
  • You will face time constraints

The presentation of your application is as important as the answers you give – so let us help your application get noticed for all the right reasons.

Assistance in meeting industry standards (eg CSCI compliance)

It can be really frustrating when you believe your organisation is meeting all of the minimum care standards only to be inspected and find that CSCI don’t agree. The worry is - what does a poor rating say to the users of your service?

Ginare have an excellent track record in working with CSCI to amend unfair judgments.

Consultants will liaise with the commission in the first instance and if necessary mediate at face to face meetings.

Our latest work in this area saw a domiciliary report change as follows:

The rating for user focused services was raised from poor to adequate and standards 1 & 6 raised from scores of 1 to scores of 2

The rating for personal care was raised from adequate to good and standard 7 raised from a score of 1 to 2.

The rating for protection remained the same, but standard number 12 was raised from a score of 1 to 2.

The rating for managers and staff was raised from poor to adequate and the score for standard number 17 was raised to a score of 2 from a score of 1

Finally the rating for organisation and running of business was raised from Poor - Good.

Overall:

  • 5 out of 7 individual scores for standards were amended from 1's to 2's
  • 4 of the 5 ratings were amended to better ones.

The most impressive part of this project was that the time lapsed from the employment of Ginare to address the issue, to the changes made to the ratings – totaled less than 3 months!
